Tonight I saw this on my Insta travels and had to share Zach Pogrob’s statement below. What a fabulous way of looking at who you surround yourself with.  For one, following @pursuit_365 was a bold move because I became a Co-Author among 364 other writers last year for their June 2022 Publication!

Being part of this legacy project as a Canadian, during such insane times in the world, had me reflecting on the company I was fortunate to surround myself with. On paper and digitally at least. However, the possibilities from this experience are virtually endless because I get to now connect with all these like-minded fierce leaders who were bold enough to share their 365-word stories about any significant part of their life. We all chose to be brave. So we have that in common. For some authors, this was not their first promotional rodeo being part of a book. For me, it was.

Looking back on the past two years in online business I will say I'm surrounded by amazing humans.

For you reading this, my hope is you are too. If you're not, the world wide web is FULL of really stellar leaders, books, podcasts and heart-centred, driven people who are on a big mission to make their world and those in it, a better place.

I know when I first started out, imposter syndrome got the best of me. In every way. Spent hours procrastinating in Canva and figuring out lighting to do videos, have the right hair and outfit, make-up, you get the picture. It’s really quite the facade we feel compelled to put on when you think about it.

So, my friend, if you are at the point of wanting to reach out to someone that is in your network and you’re nervous, here is your permission (not that you need it).

And if you do — wish granted.

You are given permission to do the following:

“Maybe the brick walls surrounding you are actually made of cardboard”

  1. Choose the right ones for you. Follow THEM. Drop those who do not light you up, challenge you to be better and cause you unnecessary stress.
  2. Decide who gets to be at YOUR boardroom table. The ones who will hold your vision high and hold your feet to the fire. To carve out your path. Because after all, it is your own path and you certainly cannot do this alone.
  3. Be bold and audacious and send someone you really look up to a DM and just ask them a question. Engage, connect, and acknowledge their contribution to your life (we are all consuming each other's content after all).
  4. Erase the idea that you are not good enough to be surrounded by people who are more successful than you. This is sage advice I received years ago from many wise mentors and it has become part of my gameplan.
  5. Hand-pick who you want at your boardroom table and then ask them to join you.
